Overview: Elsewhere: Tales of Fantasy was published by Ace Books as a paperback original in September 1981. The cover art is uncredited.
Volume II appeared a year later. It contained stories by Joanna Russ, Robin McKinley, Gabriel García Márquez, Paul Hazel, Sylvia Townsend Warner, Patricia A. McKillip, S. P. Somtow, Fritz Leiber… and “A Tourist Camped on a Donegal Field,” a poem by “Bellamy Bach.”
“Bellamy Bach” was a pseudonym used by Terri Windling (among others). The cover art is by George de Hoff.
Elsewhere, Volune III was published two years later. It included a Langdon St. Ives story by James P. Blaylock, plus stories by Patricia A. McKillip, Paul Bowles, Robin McKinley, Steve Rasnic Tem, Esther M. Friesner, Sylvia Townsend Warner, Steven R. Boyett, Angela Carter, Jane Yolen, P. C. Hodgell, Tanith Lee, and Pat Murphy. The interior artwork was once again by Terri Windling.
