Overview: I have been writing poems and stories for over twenty-five years, and have two collections of poetry published.
In 1996 I wrote my first children’s book, "The Too-Tight Tutu", which was published in 1997 by Penguin Australia. I have since written over 60 children’s and YA books, which are published around the world. My verse novel "Farm Kid" won the 2005 NSW Premier’s Literary Award for Children’s Books. "Sixth Grade Style Queen (Not!)" was a 2008 CBCA Honour Book. My latest YA novel is "Dying to Tell Me", published in the USA by KaneMiller. I’m a teacher in creative writing at Victoria University TAFE.

Ellyse is dying to start touch footy again – touchdowns are the best! But with homework piling up and training every night of the week, is it all getting too much to handle? It looks like Ellyse is going to have to make some MAJOR changes. There’s also the drama at school with her best friends, Jazz and Charlie. One minute things are great, and the next their friendship is falling apart. Uh-oh! Maybe getting selected for the regional touch footy team will help take her mind off things . . . or maybe that’s just wishful thinking. Can Ellyse find the courage to step up and face her problems head on?

Ellyse is bursting with excitement – she’s been invited to try out for a new youth soccer academy along with her friends Hu and Jamie. Could this be the start of something big? Fingers crossed! But that’s not the only thing. Cricket season has started up again and there’s both school and club competitions to play. Certain that she can do it all, Ellyse won’t slow down. That is, until she finds herself in danger of disappointing everyone around her. Man, growing up sucks sometimes! Will Ellyse finally have to choose between cricket and soccer?
