Requirements: .ePUB reader, 635 KB
Overview: Doug and Sheryl have been partners in bridge and in life for 27 years with three wonderful children and two spoiled dogs. Originally Midwesterners, they moved south when they got married, and learned bridge while Doug was an impoverished graduate student. Doug and Sheryl began playing duplicate bridge at the Birmingham Duplicate Bridge Club in 2008 after their third child was born in an effort to get out of the house and save their sanity. This plan allegedly worked, at least until the kids started playing bridge as well. Now the whole family enjoys traveling to tournaments around the country as their work and school schedules allow. Doug and Sheryl have been finalists for the NABC President’s Cup five of the past seven years. Both are still working towards their Life Master goal. When not playing bridge or writing mysteries, Doug is a mathematics professor and Sheryl is a paralegal.

1. Killer Lead
In Alpine, the Duplicate Bridge Club is the place to be. It may be a small town, but they have games every day, and all the big names like to compete. Recent young widow, Gracie Thies, is not a big name in Alpine. In fact, she hasn’t lived there in 15 years and had never planned to come back. Needing a place to settle and get her life back together after her husband’s unexpected death, Gracie has come home to spend time with her grandmother. Mamaw loves to go to the Duplicate Bridge Club, and Gracie has been playing as her partner. However, when Gracie discovers a body and is suspected of murder, the bridge fun stops and the old rumors start again. To clear her name, Gracie will have to confront her past, forgive old wrongs, make amends, and of course, play bridge.
2. Dead Dummy
Gracie Thies returns to action in the sequel to Killer Lead as she explores the possibility of opening a specialty coffee shop in downtown Alpine, Alabama. Staying in Alpine will allow her to spend time with her grandmother, and continue her rekindled relationship with her high school sweetheart. Unfortunately, Gracie’s plans have to go on hold when the body of a fellow bridge player is found in her future shop shortly after she had an argument with him at the Alpine Duplicate Bridge Club. The plans for “Gracie’s Grounds” may go up in steam before renovations even begin unless Gracie can clear her name, get construction progressing, convince others in the town to support her business, play bridge, and in the process, hopefully find a murderer.
