Overview: Hey! My name is Diamond Johnson and I’m 22 years old.
I’m from Miami, Florida and I enjoy reading, especially Urban Fiction. I started reading Urban fiction when I was in the 8th grade. I knew when I was in the 10th grade that I wanted to write a book of my own and I finally did it! Some of my favorite authors and people I hope to eventually write as good as they do is Wahida Clark, Nika Michelle, and Shavon Moore. Even as a child, my elementary teacher would always tell me how much of a strong writer that I was. I’m currently attending Broward College, taking up an interest in Elementary Education. I plan to continue on with my writing, in hopes that my work will keep you guys interested and wanting more.
Genre: Fiction > Romance > African-American > Urban
Down With the King of the South 1:
Meet Jashae Johnson. She’s well known throughout Miami, but most know her as Giovonni “Trip’s” girlfriend and baby mama. They have a ghetto love story. The two of them had been together for almost twenty years. They have a love that most people would ask Jashae just how the hell does she do it? Not because love is hard, but because Trip is in prison serving a life long sentence, for a murder that he committed years ago.
Then, you have Toddrick King, known in the streets as “Miami.” Women will pretty much sell their souls to be with a man like Miami. Not only is he a well-known retired boxer, but he’s handsome, rich, and he knows how to treat a woman. Two things are stopping Miami and Jashae from being together, and that’s Jashae’s love for Trip and because Miami and Trip were once friends.
Down With the King of the South 2:
One would think that after all of the heartbreaks that Jashae took in part one, that things get easier. That’s not the case though, because things continue to take a downward spiral in Jashae’s life. On the brighter hand, she just might be ready to be down with the King of the South. There is no denying the chemistry between Jashae and Miami. The two are pretty much meant to be together. I think we all can agree that Miami’s plan to move back home was long overdue so that he could make claims on his woman. The thing is, for so long, everyone in Miami knew Jashae as Trip’s girl, so there aren’t many people who wanted to see the two of them together. They literally have to fight everyone against them if they want this thing to work.
On the opposing side, we have Mahogany and Jabari. Two people who aren’t necessarily opposed to love, but they’re just scared to fall in love. They are indeed a perfect match, but they come with a lot of baggage. Jabari has never in his life been a one-woman man, so all of this is new to him. There just might be that one thing that happens, that leaves the two of them with no choice but to stick it out and make this thing work after all.
Down With the King of the South 3:
The things that Jashae has undergone in months is equivalent to a lifetime of pain, heartbreak, and turmoil for the average person. Some may even wonder how she’s still able to cope with life. How is it that this woman hasn’t lost her sanity yet?
With this new revelation regarding Trip’s daughter, Maya, Jashae is once again caught in a world of hurt and confusion. She has every right to feel angry, betrayed, and let down, but in the end, this is a child. An innocent child who has already been neglected and mistreated.
What’s a woman to do for a child who doesn’t share her bloodline but has the same bloodline as Giovonte? Jashae’s back is definitely against the wall, and this is a decision that she not only has to make for herself, but she has to consider Miami’s feelings as well.
Then, we have Mahogany and Jabari. Two adults who have jumped headfirst into love and are on the verge of becoming new parents. I think we can all agree that we’re rooting for these two. Preparing for a new baby and taking a chance on love is transformational for them both. It’s still fresh, so when an ex from Jabari’s past pops up, can she slowly destroy this union before it really gets started? Can things about Jabari and his ex be enough for Mahogany to bow out, or will she stand her ground in Jabari’s life and stay down with him no matter what?
Down With the King of the South 4:
The love that we have for these characters continues to grow, but sadly, this series must come to an end. After so many heartbreaks, pain, and even some misery, this is a chapter that finally closes. From the very beginning, Jashae has had it bad. One of the hardest things that she has endured was the loss of her son, Vonte. As if that wasn’t enough, she’s battling with Trip and his narcissistic ways and lack of sympathy. We are all rooting for Jashae to get that happily ever after because she deserves it.
Then we have Mahogany and Jabari. They just welcomed a beautiful baby girl, and I’m sure the world is wondering how these two are handling parenthood. These are two people who had never even thought about having children. What I can say is that Mahogany is experiencing everything that comes with postpartum depression. Let’s hope that her depression doesn’t lead her into doing something crazy to her or that beautiful baby.
Take one last ride with your favorite characters from Down with the king of the South. It’s guaranteed to make you laugh, cry, and more than likely make you cry again.
