#5 – Freedom
In the aftermath of the Battle of the Arctic, with the gas confirmed effective, the world wide clean up operation begins to claim back the earth from the undead. When Captain Swan asks David’s team for help with the final sweep of woodland, the Arctic team are glad to help, as volunteers are desperately needed, and this day is considered Day Zero – the last day of the final sweep to remove the last of the surviving corpses. But what follows will see the group not only divided, with a former friend becoming an enemy, but David and his team will find themselves separated form the main group, in woodland where it soon becomes clear a horde have been lurking. And with gas guns running low and the horde closing in, they have no choice but to take refuge in an abandoned house as they hope rescue will come before the horde break down the barriers. But with man power stretched to its limit, rescue seems unlikely – and it seems the only option may be to light the petrol cans left in the house – a final line of defense, to blow up the place and take their own lives with it, before the horde burst in. As Rick and David discuss their limited choices, it seems perhaps those who have survived the war from the start may not live to see out the last closing day of battle…
