1. Desert Trading Post: Honest Attractions: Book 1
Courtney saw Dave at the rest stop off the highway. Alone and afraid and hungry and being pursued by thugs, she jumps into his car at the last minute as he’s pulling back onto the road and off into the desert for a vacation. Yeah, she’s desperate, but it’s still love at first sight for both of them. And as long as they are honest with each other, things just might work out. If they get away from Courtney’s past, that is.
2. Island Cultural Center: Honest Attractions: Book 2
The first thing she said was, “I’m divorced.”
The woman sat down near me there on the veranda overlooking the pool of the resort. She might have been in her fifties. Attractive. And apparently she was divorced. That was the thing that was most important to her at that moment. She had a story and I wanted to hear it. I was intrigued. I was a writer. She was a character in a new adventure if I accepted her. I could have ignored her. I could have left. I could have discouraged her from telling me more. But I didn’t. I told her to tell me her story. Then I bought her a simple snack for breakfast. Then I invited her to take a shower in my room if she wanted to. She was at the resort but not registered and didn’t have a room, though she had been there for several days, sleeping on the beach.
I was attracted to her. And by that I meant that there was a magnetic pull toward her. That’s why she had come to me. She felt drawn to me. I very much wanted to find out what this adventure was leading to. But we’d have to be honest. I wasn’t going to play games. And she could sense it.
3. Do Not Feed After Midnight: An Honest Attractions Book
The Honest Attractions books usually don’t have to be read in any particular sequence. It’s a collection, not a series.
My buddy, the self-described image consultant, wanted me to meet one of his clients. All he would tell me was that she was ‘odd’ and he thought I should meet her.
We got along great. She was easy to talk to. I liked her a lot. There was an honest attraction. But after coffee, when she tried to pay me for the hour and a half we spent together, I realized that where I thought this was a date, she thought it was an appointment. She thought she had been referred to me as a relationship coach. So we started over. As friends.
But my buddy was right. She was a little odd. Six-feet tall. A professional volleyball player. And she gave me three strict rules about dating her.
- Don’t expose her to bright lights.
- Don’t get her wet.
- And Never feed her after midnight.
I’d do my best. I had no idea why.
The other thing that I found odd was that she didn’t tell me her name.
4. Second Chance Snack Bar: An Honest Attractions Book
The three women headed my way were as out of place here as I was. I hated these things. I rarely bothered to come. Maybe I didn’t actually hate them, but I didn’t really enjoy them. I thought of myself as a self-confident introvert. The Friday night neighborhood dinner parties weren’t all that fun for me. Tonight might be different. I’d try not to be noticed by the hostess. But the three women had definitely noticed me. They came at me like I was the most fascinating man in the room. After quick introductions, one of them asked me to tell them something “real” about myself. What was the most recent movie I’d seen, and why was it important? How had it impacted me? Well, the last movie I’d seen was a stupid sci-fi caveman flick, and it had given me things to think about. As I described the film, it gave all four of us things to think about. That was Friday night. Sunday morning, they picked me up, and we went out together for the day. We were still thinking about the movie. And they wanted to try an experiment related to caveman culture. The first rule was that we had to be absolutely honest with each other.
