Blood never lies.
My name’s Michael, Cromwell, if it matters to you. As a child, I was nearly killed by a demon, and ever since, the only thing I’ve cared about is becoming a blood knight. Using the mana inside my blood to protect others from the monsters that plague the world.
Eight years I devoted to training, and finally, I was ready to be tested. My blood was measure and assessed, laid bare for all to see. And it was found wanting.
I was given the lowest rank possible, just barely meeting the requirements to take the prestigious Sanguine Academy entrance exam. But I aim to prove them wrong.
Pure determination can only see me so far, and all of my training will be put to the test as I find more than a few obstacles in my way. I’ve got new friends, rivals, and lovers surrounding me, but blood is the only thing that matters in this academy.

Volume 2
Power comes at a price, and I’ve got quite the debt to settle.
The midterms are over, and I’ve succeeded, not only in passing, but I’ve also managed to increase my blood rank from E to D. Something that’s never been done before. With all my recent successes, I should be satisfied with my progress.
Not a chance.
Cromwell’s don’t settle, and I’m not going to stop until I climb to the very top and stand proud next to my sister and all of the other prodigies at S-Rank.
But it was foolish of me to believe I could defy the natural order of the world and just climb the ranks freely. That there wouldn’t be consequences.
My explosive increase in power has left my mana well fractured.
It’s falling apart, and if it crumbles, then I’m as good as dead.
There are no easy answers, no quick fixes to save me. And, if I’m going to repair my well, let alone keep ascending the ranks, I’m going to have to find a solution, and soon.

Ignorance is bliss, and more than anything, I wish I’d never learned the truth.

After my fight with Gwen, everything is perfectly clear. With my ascension to C-Rank, I now have power beyond even an S-Ranked Blood Mage. But I can no longer keep my abilities hidden.
