David Webb series by Anthea Fraser (#11, #14)
Requirements: Epub reader/Mobi reader, 1.85 Mb
Overview: My mother was a published novelist and though I was making up poems and stories before I could write and filled countless exercise books throughout my school days, I didn’t start writing seriously until after I was married.
Laura Possessed was my first major success, and was followed by another six novels with a paranormal theme. I then wrote some romantic suspense before turning to straight crime, with sixteen books about DCI Webb, the last twelve of which were the ‘Green Grow the Rushes’ series. Next came two one-off crime novels with no police involvement, Past Shadows and Fathers and Daughters, but the lure of the series novel began to pull again, and I started a new one with a protagonist ‘Rona Parish’ who is a biographer and freelance journalist – and thus has plenty of opportunity to stumble across crime! The first of this series was Brought To Book.
I served as secretary of the Crime Writers’ Association from 1986-1996.
Genre: Mystery, Crime

The Gospel Makers (David Webb #11)
The Revelationists, flocking to organize in rural Shillingham, are a secretive bunch.
They are taking over the village with their extreme religious mantra, and seem to be reaching a cult-like status.
Detective Chief Inspector David Webb is instinctively suspicious of the group, so when one of his police officers, Nina Petrie, offers to investigate undercover, he agrees.
But Detective Inspector Petrie soon finds herself being sucked in…
Could the apocalyptic message the sect is preaching be based on reality?
Or are they using illegal means to dupe their followers?
When a wine merchant is found murdered in his hotel room the plot thickens.
And Webb’s attention quickly shifts to the discovery of the dead man.
Who was he, and who were the mysterious couple he was last seen with?
Even after his identity has been established, there appears to be no motive for his murder…
Did he have anything to do with the Revelationists?
Or was his death at the same as The Gospel Makers increasing popularity just a coincidence…?

The Ten Commandments (David Webb #14)
A recent and brutal murder brings the past to life for DCI Webb
The discovery of a body in a pub car-park is an unpleasant reminder to DCI Webb that a strikingly similar incident occured some years earlier, and that the killer has still not been caught. Webb is hopeful of clearing up both cases at the same time, but his task is made more difficult by the publicly stated opinion of Frederick Mace, a wellknown criminologist, that the murders were committed by different people.
In a blaze of media interest the two men pursue their separate lines of inquiry, and another tragedy is only narrowly averted before both cases can be satisfactorily closed.
