Overview: Fitzwilliam Darcy proposed to Elizabeth Bennet on Christmas Eve, just before the festive ball at Pemberley. Before travelling to Meryton to plan their wedding, the couple decides to marry on Valentine’s Day. Upon returning to Longbourn, Elizabeth faces the daunting task of informing her mother about her engagement. When Mrs Bennet learns that the wedding is scheduled for Valentine’s Day, she insists that she is unable to plan a wedding in such a short amount of time and refuses to assist with the planning. Desperate for her mother’s assistance, Elizabeth devises a scheme to entice Mrs Bennet into planning her wedding.
