Overview: "An excellent graphic novel by Kazu Kibuishi. It’s a sort of a space western featuring Daisy Kutter, a former outlaw of mythic repute who gets roped into one more gig. The story is simple and rather unremarkable, but its merits as a comic are many. Kibuishi seems to have mastered the subtle pacing and extended silences that make comics so magical, and he has chosen a level of stylization for his characters that is accessibly cartoonish without being cloying or absurd (think The Incredibles and Tintin rather than Mickey Mouse). One gets the impression he has taken all of Scott McCloud’s best advice, consciously or otherwise. Regardless, this is a real gem." A fine comic, April 24, 2005 by K. M. Ueda (Berkeley, CA USA)

"…along comes Kazu Kibuishi with a book that has enough style and substance to make this reviewer excited about comics all over again. Daisy Kutter: The Last Train #1 is one of those books that comes out of nowhere and surpasses all expectations." James Powell – PaperbackReader.com

"Writer/artist Kazu Kibuishi has created one of the brightest, most lovable characters to hit the scene in years. Kibuishi’s Daisy Kutter is a tough cutie along the lines of a female Clint Eastwood with the luck of Barney Fife! Kibuishi’s art captures this essence perfectly, all the while giving this book a welcoming and comforting feel that can only be described as a breath of fresh air in an often stale industry!"theComicFanatic.com

Daisy Kutter has given up the outlaw life and gone straight – although not as straight as her Tom, her ex-flame and current sheriff. She was the best, but she swears she’s gone straight, until she gets an job offer that she can’t refuse. But this is it: one last train robbery, and then she’s done. However, unsurprisingly, not everything is as it seems, and the heist doesn’t quite go according to plan…

Kazu Kibuishi (born 1978 in Tokyo, Japan) is an American graphic novel author and illustrator. He is best known for being the creator and editor of the comic anthology Flight and for creating the webcomic Copper. He is also the author and illustrator of the ongoing Amulet series. The webcomic artist and noted critic Scott McCloud has said that some of Kazu Kibuishi’s work is so beautifully drawn that "it hurts my hands when I look at it".

Flight was conceived by Kazu as a way of showcasing his and his friends’ best work. They pitched the idea at the Alternative Press Expo, and it attracted the attention of Erik Larsen, then-new publisher of Image Comics. This in turn caused the project to explode, attracting talent from all over the industry. The first two volumes were published by Image, but the third one is published by Ballantine Books.

While editing Flight Volume 1, he also created the 4-issue steampunk graphic novel Daisy Kutter: The Last Train, published by Viper Comics and selected by the American Library Association as one of the best books for young adults for 2006.

Kazu is also the creator of an ongoing series of graphic novels targeted at adolescents called Amulet; which as of September 2011 includes The Stonekeeper, The Stonekeeper’s Curse, The Cloud Searchers and The Last Council for Scholastic.
