Cultwick: The Sweeper Bot Plague tells the story of a group of rebels known by the moniker of the Chromework Confederacy, as they uncover the truth behind the malady that has been ravaging the empire for more than two decades. Told from the perspective of six distinct characters, Cultwick: The Sweeper Bot Plague serves as an introduction to this world of strange science, technological marvels, and a government striving for utter domination over its empire. Erynn Clover, a young chromesmith working in Cultwick City with an appalling streak of bad luck, is chosen by the government run lottery to participate in genetic experiments. Though the intention of these experiments is purported to be for the eradication of the Sweeper Bot Plague, Erynn has her doubts. Rather than submit to the government’s edict, Erynn flees to the western frontier, branding herself as a heretic and inadvertently dragging her family into the empire’s crosshairs. For their part, the Cultwick government refuses to let any citizen selected by the lottery escape from their responsibilities as a part of the ongoing experiments, so the empress sends Operative Alice Page after the heretic. Alice, a highly religious woman following the tenets of the Church of Biosynthesis, follows Erynn westward on orders to find her, force her to return to Cultwick City, and ultimately face the deathly consequences of her actions.

Cultwick: The Wretched Dead begins several weeks following the cure of the Sweeper Bot Plague during a temporary moment of peace in the empire. The Chromework Confederacy has struck a blow to the Cultwick Empire by uncovering the truth behind the disease, which has only made the empress more zealous in her endeavors to eliminate the rebellion once and for all. The rebels, however, should be the least of their concerns as Fiona Newton returns, bringing with her a new plague to Cultwick City. When imprisoned inside the Center for Empirical Research Fiona Newton was forcefully subjected to all manner of experimental research, leaving her with the specific ability to reanimate dead tissue and control the minds of those she infected. After learning her potential while in the western frontier, Fiona now returns to the city that created her with a personal vendetta and an army of infected corpses. With their undying obedience, she threatens to tear down the Cultwick Empire and everything their regime stand for. Council Leader Desmond Crowley, meanwhile, believes he has his eyes on all things in Cultwick, but with the combination of the Chromework Confederacy and Fiona’s new plague, he is beginning to lose his tightly clenched grip over the empire. After clawing his way into the council, Crowley refuses to give up his seat to the chaos, so he makes preparations to do anything in his power to put an end to the rebellion as well as the madwoman ravaging his city.

Cultwick: The Science of Faith: Alice Page served the Cultwick Empire as an operative, tracking down, retrieving, and killing dangerous individuals for her government. When she was tasked with reclaiming the heretic, Erynn Clover, Alice lost her life, but her death came to an end when the Carrier Plague inadvertently revived her. Following her death, the empire began to change, but not to her liking. Given a second chance at her life, she must adjust to a rapidly evolving environment and determine if her god’s hand had a role in reviving her. Viola Arkmast became the new empress following her mother’s death, and she is responsible for many of the changes occurring in the new Cultwick Empire. Forced to ally herself with individuals she’d rather not, Viola took the empire from her malevolent mother during the Carrier Plague. Now that Cultwick is in her hands, she must decide what to do with that power.
