Cornelius: The Wizard’s Cure by Twila Tewson
Requirements: ePUB Reader 178 kb
Overview: The wizard Cornelius labors under a heavy curse. Meanwhile, Lord Pelagos is dying of a mysterious illness. Can either man save the other? Or are they both doomed to failure and death?
House Haemus has been suffering a run of bad luck lately. The lord’s oldest son has recently died and his new heir, Pelagos, now lays deathly ill. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and the Lord of Oeolyca Castle is desperate enough to call on a wizard – one that has been feuding with his family for centuries.
Cornelius is a wizard that knows something about curses. Once a unicorn, he was cursed to human form by a vengeful daughter of House Haemus. Since then, the lords and ladies of that house have been nothing but trouble for him. Cornelius has no intention of being helpful to the current Lord Haemus until he offers Cornelius an obscene amount of silver to save the life of his only son. But the lord’s son, Pelagos, is so passionate, determined, and eager to please that Cornelius finds it impossible not to like him… just a little bit (or maybe a lot bit) and almost entirely against his will. Can a unicorn with a long held grudge ever forgive any member of House Haemus for being a Haemus?
When his father gives him into the care of a very male wizard, Pelagos leaps headlong to the most obvious conclusion: his father has given up on his recovery, choosing instead to bind him into a wraith’s wedding so that his restless spirit cannot haunt the family. Determined to make the best of a bad situation, Pelagos soon resolves to be the best spouse he can be to Cornelius in the time that they have left together. And slowly, his determination to do the honorable thing by an unwanted husband turns into something else, something softer and much warmer. But can those softer emotions weather the truth? Will they be enough to bind Pelagos’ heart to Cornelius after Pelagos discovers the truth? And will Cornelius allow himself to be bound to any member of House Haemus, no matter how devoted?
