Complete Short Fiction by David Mason (ed. Jerry eBooks 2021)
Requirements: ePUB reader, 0.9Mb
Overview: David Mason, the pseudonym of Samuel Mason, was born sometime in 1924. During his life, he was a police office and art teacher. Mason was married to fellow science fiction author, Katherine MacLean, from 1956-1962. They resided in Portland, Maine and had one son, Christopher Mason.
Mason began publishing with “Placebo” for the November 1955 issue of Infinity Science Fiction. Most of his novels–such as his first, Kavin’s World (1969), and its sequel in the Kavin sequence, The Return of Kavin (1972)–were routine Sword and Sorcery. However, his final book, The Deep Gods (1973), more impressively implants a twentieth-century mentality into the brain of a prehistoric man, where he must deal with the insanity of a whale (one of the “deep gods” of the title) that threatens to destroy Eden.
David Mason died on June 28, 1974.
