The Colors & Markings series provides a concentrated look at the colours and markings worn by post-war US military aircraft. Each title covers a specific aircraft type or variant, or aircraft in a specific role, showing the markings carried by means of numerous b+w and colour photographs. Later titles had more colour pages.
This series appears to have gone through a number of publishers. The original Detail & Scale was soon taken over by Aero Publishers, which was merged into TAB Books. Most titles in the series appeared under the TAB/Aero label. Eventually Squadron/Signal Publications acquired the publishing rights and set about re-issuing most of these titles.
