Requirements: .ePUB Reader, 1.5 MB
Overview: In this atmospheric debut mystery, an out-of-work journalist and the homicide detective who broke her heart must cipher out a murder before the clock runs out, perfect for fans of Naomi Hirahara and Jane Pek.
After the newspaper she works for folds and the freelance assignments no longer pay the bills, Maya Wong reluctantly returns to her native Hawaiʻi to ghostwrite controversial land developer Parker Hamilton’s biography. But when the Hamilton patriarch is found dead under suspicious circumstances, Maya is unwittingly drawn into the investigation.
Maya’s family and friends aren’t happy about her work for Hamilton. And now, with her ex, Detective Koa Yamada, on the case, she’s forced to contend with the very person she was determined to avoid.
All too soon, Maya is dodging assailants and digging for clues while juggling girls’ nights out with her old BFFs and weekly family dinners. Convinced the police are after the wrong man, Maya is determined to stop the killer before it’s too late.
Exploring timely issues in Hawaiʻi, including locals getting priced out of paradise, Ghosts of Waikīkī is an engrossing mystery in the vein of The Verifiers.

Combining realistic thrills with sophisticated spycraft and witty dialogue, The Collaborators delivers a gut-punch answer to the biggest geopolitical question of our time: how, exactly, did post-Soviet Russia turn down the wrong path?
Crisscrossing the globe on the way to this shocking revelation are disaffected millennial CIA officer Ari Falk, thrown into a moral and professional crisis by the death of his best asset; and brash, troubled LA heiress Maya Chou, spiraling after the disappearance of her Russian American billionaire father. Dynamic, fast-paced, and filled with captivating details that provide a window into a secretive world, The Collaborators is a first-rate thriller “with a propulsive plot and fantastic twists” (Chris Pavone, author of The Expats) that pays homage to both meanings of “intelligence.”

Download Nobel Crimes: Stories of Mystery by Marie Smith (.ePUB)
Nobel Crimes: Stories of Mystery and Detection by Winners of the Nobel Prize for Literature by Marie Smith
Requirements: ePUB reader, 825 KB
Overview: The stories I finally selected could scarcely be more different from one another in style, treatment, attitude and any other aspect one might care to name, and I believe that this makes for varied and stimulating reading. I rather dislike ‘theme’ anthologies, finding that if I have just read a story about a murderous dentist, let’s say, the very last thing I want to do is to read eleven or twelve more stories about murderous dentists. To build a collection around the idea of the Nobel Prize might seem curious, but it its really no more than an excuse to assemble a group of very good stories indeed. I hope that you agree, and that Alfred Nobel—who, let us not forget, built his fortune on the invention of dynamite—would have approved.
—MARIE SMITH
Genre: Fiction > Mystery/Thriller
Includes the following 17 stories:
HEINRICH BÖLL—In the Darkness
PEARL BUCK—Ransom
IVAN BUNIN—The Gentleman from San Francisco
ALBERT CAMUS—The Guest
T. S. ELIOT—Macavity: The Mystery Cat
WILLIAM FAULKNER—Smoke
ANATOLE FRANCE—The Majesty of Justice
JOHN GALSWORTHY—Blackmail
NADINE GORDIMER—The Moment Before the Gun Went Off
ERNEST HEMINGWAY—The Killers
RUDYARD KIPLING—The Return of Imray
SINCLAIR LEWIS—The Post-Mortem Murder
GABRIEL GARCIA MARQUEZ—The Woman Who Came At Six O’Clock
