Heavy Weather by Bruce Sterling
Requirements: MP3 Player | 159 MB | 32 kbps
Overview: Bruce Sterling, one of the founding fathers of the cyberpunk genre, now presents a novel of vivid imagination and invention that proves his talent for creating brilliant speculative fiction is sharper than ever. Forty years from now, Earth’s climate has been drastically changed by the greenhouse effect. Tornadoes of almost unimaginable force roam the open spaces of Texas. And on their trail are the Storm Troupers: a ragtag band of computer experts and atmospheric scientists who live to hack heavy weather — to document it and spread the information as far as the digital networks will stretch, using virtual reality to explore the eye of the storm. Although it’s incredibly addictive, this is no game. The Troupers’ computer models suggest that soon an "F-6" will strike — a tornado of an intensity that exceeds any existing scale; a storm so devastating that it may never stop. And they’re going to be there when all hell breaks loose.

Download A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess (.MP3)

A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
Requirements: MP3 Player, 79 MB, 32 kbps
Overview: Novel by Anthony Burgess, published in 1962. Set in a dismal dystopia, it is the first-person account of a juvenile delinquent who undergoes state-sponsored psychological rehabilitation for his aberrant behavior. The novel satirizes extreme political systems that are based on opposing models of the perfectibility or incorrigibility of humanity. Written in a futuristic slang vocabulary invented by Burgess, in part by adaptation of Russian words, it was his most original and best-known work. Alex, the protagonist, has a passion for classical music and is a member of a vicious teenage gang that commits random acts of brutality. Captured and imprisoned, he is transformed through behavioral conditioning into a model citizen, but his taming also leaves him defenseless. He ultimately reverts to his former behavior. The final chapter of the original British edition, in which Alex renounces his amoral past, was removed when the novel was first published in the United States.

Download Childhood’s End by Arthur C. Clarke (.MP3)

Childhood’s End by Arthur C. Clarke
Requirements: MP3 Player, 210 MB, 64 kbps
Overview: "Childhood’s End" is an appropriate title as it references the end of humanity’s childhood. The Overlords are on a quest to condition the people of Earth for it’s new role in the order of the Universe. Current humanity will not be able to handle what is asked of them, but through the generations they can be evolved to be prepared to take their next step. "Childhood’s End", in the space of a mere 224 pages tells the stories of the different steps of this evolution in an episodic manner that is rich in detail and profound in meaning. Clarke is fascinated by the potentials of human destiny. Sometimes, as with "Light of Other Days", he is not as successful in realizing that destiny as he is in other stories. "Childhood’s End", though, extraordinarily realizes what humanity can become and its importance to strive towards that. "Childhood’s End" is as relevant and compelling and novel in 2003 as it was in 1953.
