Overview: New York Times bestselling author Harry Turtledove has intrigued readers with such thought-provoking "what if…" scenarios as a conquered Elizabethan England in Ruled Britannia and a Japanese occupation of Hawaii in Days of Infamy and End of the Beginning. Now, in the first of a brand-new trilogy, he rewrites the history of the world with the existence of an eighth continent… Atlantis lies between Europe and the East Coast of Terranova. Jaws of Darkness by Harry Turtledove
Requirements: MP3 Player | 348 MB | 32 kbps
Overview: The absorbing, character-centered fifth volume (after 2002’s Rulers of the Darkness) in Turtledove’s fantasy saga paralleling WWII ranks as the strongest yet in the series. WWII buffs will of course enjoy watching the equivalents of the Manhattan Project, D-Day, the great Russian offensives of 1944, the appearance of German secret weapons and the withdrawal of Romania from the Axis. And the author continues to handle the action, both magical and martial, as deftly as ever. But the heart of the volume is the characters who face predicaments and ethical challenges that are personal yet universal. Ealstan and his Kaunian wife, Vanai, are any young couple trying to love, give their child a safe, sane and reasonably sanitary life and get a good night’s sleep-but in the midst of war and genocide. When the Kuusaman mage Pekka confronts her passion for the Lagoan sorcerer Fernao, she ends up hip-deep in problems that would roil a suburban pharmaceutical warehouse, let alone a sorcerous research center at war.

Rulers of Darkness by Harry Turtledove
Requirements: MP3 Player | 342 MB | 32 kbps
Overview: The author of the Worldwar and Great War series displays his virtuoso command of the details of WWII in this fourth book (after 2001’s Through the Darkness) about a conflict between mythical feudal kingdoms using magic instead of science as the basis for technology. Aficionados will enjoy picking out the parallels the Japan-analog Gyonghos Empire, for example, fights "the grinning dwarves of Kuusamo" (i.e., the United States). On the equivalent of the Eastern front, the German-based Algarvian Empire recovers from its losses in the frozen urban hell of Sulingen and prepares for its usual summer advance against the forces of King Swemmel of Unkerlant, leading to a replay of the battle of Kursk. Turtledove’s great strength has always been the depiction of ordinary characters who have to live with the consequences of their superiors’ decisions an Algarvian policeman in Forthweg objects to rounding up Kaunians, while a group of theoretical magicians must work on a thaumaturgical Manhattan Project.

Darkness Descending by Harry Turtledove
Requirements: MP3 Player | 369 MB | 32 kbps
Overview: Despite the title, Darkness Descending, the second novel in Harry Turtledove’s massive Derlavai saga, is far less pessimistic in tone than the introductory volume, Into the Darkness. Although the wars effects continue to be felt across the continent of Derlavai, and beyond, the actual battle sequences are generally limited to the Algarvian invasion of Unkerlant, told through only a few viewpoint characters. The majority of characters are far removed from the front and are shown learning to either deal with the territorial occupation of the Algarvians or attempting to harass the invaders.
