Overview: Canon Fodder: Dark Matter is a 1995 sequel to the original Canon Fodder that first appeared in 2000AD in 1993. Mark Millar was replaced as a writer by Nigel Long, who used the pseudonym Kek-W, and it was illustrated by Chris Weston, who was also the artist on the original series.
A dispute between the publisher Fleetway and Millar regarding ownership of the character prevented further development. Millar had stopped working for 2000AD by the time the second series was created and objected to the series being continued in his absence. Chris Weston has since said that he only agreed to illustrate the second series because he thought the character was the property of 2000AD. 2000AD’s editor, David Bishop, shelved plans to continue the series to avoid offending Millar.
