Overview: Nothing good has ever happened to Chris Davis. He lost his parents at the age of sixteen in a car wreck that left him with a deformity.
Chris has given up on finding true love after a series of heartbreaks. He’s content to survive on the meager salary he earns as a janitor in one of Kayla Morrison’s chain of hotels.
Chris is about to dispose of the contents in a trash can when a local paper falls out and drops at his feet. An ad on the front page catches his attention – a woman named Kayla Renae is searching for love and wants to communicate through letters.
Chris responds to the ad and exchanges letters and emails with Kayla Renae Morrison, a wealthy, lonely woman searching for love. He doesn’t know he’s been communicating with the owner of the Morrison hotel where he works.
Each letter they exchange makes him feel like they have known each other for years.
His and Kayla’s love story is the kind of romance he has always dreamt of. They sign off every letter with, ‘Call me yours.’ They talk about everything – from the names of their unborn children to Kayla’s personal struggles. Especially, Kayla’s sixteen-year-old daughter, Adi, is constantly in and out of trouble. Adi has been skipping classes and sneaking out of the house to attend late-night parties.
Kayla’s also afraid for her life.
When Kayla doesn’t show up on their first date in their favorite hot chocolate shop, the Cocomo café, Chris thinks she decided not to see him because of his financial status. Days later, Kayla reaches out to him and assures him of her love.
When she doesn’t show up on subsequent dates, Chris starts to dig into her past.
Someone else is asking questions about Kayla too, whoever they are, may unearth a dark well-kept secret that will make their happily-ever-after impossible.
