The Barn : The Farm II (#21)
“Loving someone isn’t always rainbows and butterflies. I get that. I accept and love him for his faults and failings. That didn’t mean I wasn’t so pissed at him I could scream. Or cry.”—Cody

Things on the farm have been going well–splendid even! We’re just about to open the new staff quarters, start construction on the dairy barn–and, after much back-and-forth with my family, host my sister’s wedding.

It feels great, like I’m about to have all I ever wanted–including Buck. Our private life is so great in so many areas, not the least of which is in the bedroom. Or kitchen. Or the new staff quarters. That head of his is way more devious than I ever knew–especially for a self-admitted former straight boy. I just wish our public lives could reflect how wonderful it is when we’re alone.

Before the barn and the wedding, we have to actually open the new staff quarters. I’m excited, but it’ll be weird when the farmhands move in. Thankfully, we still have time to be alone together before they do. Let’s just hope no one sees the boss and farm manager christening the place through the giant floor-to-ceiling windows on the fourth floor.

“I wanted to reach across the table and kiss him, needing to connect with the man from my past who would hopefully be my future.”—Buck

This wasn’t how my life was supposed to be. Ok, it’s pretty close to how I grew up, but still. I’m managing the farm my dad used to, and I even spend most of my time with the one and only Cody Bosswell. But I never thought so much of that time would be without clothes. Lemme tell you what, it’s the best thing ever. Hands down, bar none. Still boggles my mind that a guy like him wants to be with a lunk like me.

This upcoming season is gonna be tough. With all those fancy folk coming for the wedding, the never-ending stream of construction types, and–lord help me–my folks and sister coming for an extended stay later this summer, I’m scared Cody and I won’t be able to find much time for each other. Especially without clothes on.

The Firehouse (#22)
It was the second craziest thing I had ever done. So what if I liked it? It was fun and I was really starting to like Connor. —Aiden

I’m not great at friendships. Or relationships of any kind. Especially with unknown groups of guys. When I signed up to be a firefighter with the Ringfield Volunteer Fire Company, I was nervous—to put it lightly.

The fighters are very close and hang out at the firehouse, whether or not they’re on duty. And with only one open shower bay, they’re not modest. Not that there’s any reason to be. They all use the gym in the basement daily, and a few of the guys, like Connor, are more than blessed down there.

I’m excited about my first overnight duty with Connor. He’s one of the coolest guys on the force—but also a party boy with the face and body to match. Hopefully, he has nothing but TV and junk food planned. But with Connor, you never know.
