Overview:David Chill was born and raised in New York City. After receiving his undergraduate degree from SUNY-Oswego, he moved to Los Angeles where he earned a Masters degree from the University of Southern California.
David Chill is the author of two novels, Post Pattern and Fade Route. Post Pattern was a finalist in the St. Martin’s Press contest for new private eye mystery writers. Both novels have received critical acclaim. David Chill presently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and son.

Post Pattern (Book 1) A former USC football player back in the day, Burnside has recently left the LAPD following a scandal and has started his own private investigation agency. After someone fires a shot at a football star from a rival university, Burnside takes on the case which leads him into both the underbelly and the aristocracy of Los Angeles.
Burnside unravels a complex series of baffling leads as he weaves his way through the investigation. As the body count piles up, he encounters beautiful girls, wayward athletes and overworked cops on his way to cracking a case that no one else wants to touch. And as he works through the various twists and turns in the story, Burnside also comes to grips with a betrayal from his past that keeps returning to him, no matter how much he tries to avoid it.
Fade Route (Book 2) A local politician is murdered and there’s one obvious suspect. But everything seems too cut and dried for Burnside’s taste. While the police quickly pinpoint a likely culprit, Burnside — the former USC football star turned private eye — pushes forward into an investigation that reveals more and more possible suspects, all with their own motives. With little more to go on than his gut feeling, Burnside pokes at everything around him as he tries to untangle a web of deceit that threatens to take down an entire community.
The story is set on the outskirts of Los Angeles, in a seaside town that is both serenely gorgeous and brutally stark. It is a community that is home to the very rich and the very poor, a place that contains more than its share of wealth, sin, beauty and despair.
Fade Route is the second book in the Burnside series, a worthy follow up to David Chill’s acclaimed first novel, Post Pattern. Bubble Screen (Book 3) A series of thefts are plaguing a local warehouse and the owner brings in Burnside to find out who’s behind it. The owner, a big donor to Burnside’s alma mater, USC, has an idea of who the culprit is. But theft quickly turns to murder and Burnside is plunged into an investigation where the tentacles expand well beyond a simple case of larceny.
The story leads Burnside onto the trail of people who have only one purpose in life, that being the pursuit of money. And they will do anything to acquire money and use any means necessary to keep it. And through it all, Burnside also has to come to grips with his relationship with his girlfriend Gail Pepper, and make a life altering decision about his future.
