Bullied by Benjamin Wright
Requirements: .ePUB .AZW3 Reader | 1.1 MB
Overview: A cross between ‘Lord of the Flies’ and ‘Animal Farm’, ‘Bullied’ tells the story of two groups of children, the Red shirts and the Green shirts, struggling over ownership of a school and its playground. Over the course of the story the initially tiny Green minority in the school try to take full control over it because they believe they have a greater historical claim to it. The Red majority do their best to stop them believing, by virtue of their far greater numbers, that the school belongs to them. The fighting between the two groups is fierce, and many other schools weigh in to both keep the peace and join the fighting. As the fighting escalates the burning question is who will seize control over the olive tree that represents the heart and soul of the school, and who will be left bullied and bleeding in the corner?
As you may have already guessed, ‘Bullied’ is an allegory of the Israel-Palestine conflict. So if you’d like to gain a full understanding of the world’s most visible long-running conflict, but don’t wish to pick up an 800-page history book, ‘Bullied’ is your answer. And even if history books are your thing, ‘Bullied’ brings that history to life like no other book on the conflict.
