Three warriors wearing leather armor and close-fitting metal helmets, each armed with quarterstaffs, approached. Each one was larger than she was and had thick muscled arms and legs. Their steely-eyed glare and silence spoke volumes as they methodically moved in and began to fan out. If she let them surround her, it was over. Moving to the right, she hoped to flank them and at least have the huge redhead on the far left out of range from striking. The female warrior with grey in her hair thrust her staff. The smaller woman parried and managed to swing the left end of her staff up and catch the larger woman in the knee, causing her to stumble with a satisfying grunt. Her comrade on his right with long, black hair neatly rolled around the fallen woman and engaged. The thrusts and parries were falling like rain. Despite her blocking, countering, and footwork, they would surround her in a matter of time. She caught a flash of the huge redhead jogging past. A vicious quarterstaff strike to her back blasted pain across her shoulder blades, propelling her to the ground. Facedown in the dirt was the last place she wanted to end up.
