The Reigning Dead by Corwyn Matthew (Blood Magik #2)
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 914 KB
Overview: The beginning of the bitter end rages on! In Blood Magik: A Cold Day in Hell, you met the cast: A beauty, a beast, some old guy, a handful of Breathers, and a Zamboni-load of undead hockey jocks terrorizing L.A. Now…you meet their end…Or not. The fates have yet to decide! (Or so they tell me…) So, rejoice! There may still be hope for your favorite gaggle of do-gooders, or perhaps even their bloodier, worser-halves. Will Alex find it in her to defeat her iniquitous aunt, the Demon Queen? Will Marty be able to stand against the walking corpse-of-a-tyrant that Jean-Claude has become? Will Jimmy ever grow a pair, man-up and kill him some zombies?
Book Two of the Blood Magik saga picks up where the first left off, with a gaggle of do-gooders, living and dead alike, navigating an evacuated Los Angeles under diabolical blood clouds filled with wormlike leviathans and the sacrificial human-juices to rain down and raise the next wave of dead. While the she-devil Imala concocts more of her Elite Demons to bring forth Hell on Earth, her niece and nephew, Alex and Marty, work their way from opposite ends through the militarized dead-men between them toward the citadel of flame blazing on the grounds of the Remembrance cemetery, just west of Westwood and Beverly Hills. With two breeds of dead currently walking the Earth, a third is no doubt on the rise, and Marty, being among the recent-dead who aren’t in-league with the rest (along with several of his teammates), knows he’ll need to gather all the friends he can to make his way into the heart of the New Hell to find his sister. With the demon-wolf Tessurra escorting Alex and her cab-driving companion back into the city, and Alex’s half-brother-slash-junkie-turned-people-eating-thug, Smoke, riding shotgun with his and Marty’s demented father, the apocalyptic pot is boiling and set to soften up a meal hardy enough to choke a horde of stampeding, zombie soldiers (and those guys will eat anything…). The End is not nigh, but has long-since came-and-went, and it’s the Beginning that’s closing in on you that you should be worried about.
