Elias must play along to keep the peace, even if it gives him a disadvantage and sets Orlando up for a watery retribution from a certain Irish sea-god when the mission drags Colton Montague into the mess. It’s up to Vasily to continue the investigation and do it fast before the god takes action. Elias and Vasily are both required to end it. So, maybe tipping the scales isn’t such a bad idea.
