1. In Absentia
There’s No Place Like Home. Kim and Julian Taylor are in the market for their first home, and a visit to the secluded Beacon estate finds them enamored. It’s a peculiar home, rather large and in need of some renovations. The price is right however, and after a tour, they snap the house up without hesitation.
The man who sells them the house has one last detail to share before they sign on the dotted line. The previous owners of the home disappeared under mysterious circumstances nearly eight years ago and have recently been declared dead in absentia. Unperturbed by this fact, Kim and Julian set about making the home their own. It quickly becomes clear that the two of them are not alone there, however.
2. The Borderland
Something is wrong with the Beacon estate. Kim and Julian try to adjust to their new home, but reminders of the previous owners are many. For Kim, it’s difficult not to fixate on the mysterious disappearance of the house’s last tenants and she quickly grows obsessed with learning more about them. All the while, the house’s quirks and flaws become more than just an annoyance. They’re becoming frightening.
The strange door in the basement, which had been wallpapered over so as to keep it hidden, has opened of its own accord. The dead woods outside, though barren of animal life, seem to come alive at night with curious, masked onlookers. Kim feels like she’s losing her mind and Julian is unsympathetic. What is it that ails her? Is the stress of the move merely wreaking havoc on her mind, or is she being plagued by something more sinister? Kim begins to gather clues, digs deep to find answers to the questions that keep her up at night. The more she pieces things together however, the less she wishes she knew.
3. The Amber Light
Some Things Are Better Left Buried…Kim’s curiosity reaches a fever pitch. Reaching out to the people who knew the Reeds, she ends up with conflicting accounts of their lives and habits. Nothing is making sense, and with every passing day she becomes less sure of what she knows. An unmarked grave just outside the woods. A series of revelatory dreams. A large, mysterious light fixture hiding in amongst the trees. When Kim switches on the Amber Light, she discovers the truth behind the disappearance of Marshall and Dakota Reed. Indeed, she learns far too much.
4. In Darkness
Fear Itself Draws Near. It’s Julian’s turn to search for answers. Recent events have convinced him that there’s something wrong with the Beacon estate after all, but is it too late for him to put his skepticism aside?
