This collection includes:

#0 – Tornado of Sparks
Tornado of Sparks is a prequel short story to the Bitterwood trilogy. Fifteen years before war erupts between dragons and humans, the wizard dragon Vendevorex seeks a position in the court of the dragon-king Albekizan. In the course of demonstrating his powers to the king, Vendevorex discovers that the humans he just killed had an infant daughter, Jandra. Vendevorex is determined to deliver the baby to her only remaining relative, but his plans are complicated when the child winds up in the grasp of Zanzeroth, a dragon who hunts humans for sport.

#1 – Bitterwood
Dragons rule the world, united under their powerful dragon-king. Humans struggle to survive as slaves, pets, and prey. One man, the mysterious Bitterwood, strikes at dragons from the shadows, fighting a long, lonely war of resistance. When Bitterwood is blamed for the death of the dragon-king’s son, the dragons launch a full scale campaign to rid the world of the legendary dragon-slayer—even if they must kill all of mankind to do so.

#2 – Dragonforge
Following the events of the novel Bitterwood, a new and untested dragon-king now rules the land. The firebrand prophet Ragnar has raised an army of men to overthrow the dragons, and their first target is the town of Dragon Forge, home to the foundries that supply weapons and armor for the king’s soldiers. Against this back-drop of war, the legendary dragon-slayer Bant Bitterwood finds himself in an uneasy alliance with a sun-dragon named Hex as they race to halt the genocidal schemes of the most dangerous creature alive: Blasphet, the Murder God.

#3 – Dragonseed
The dragon kingdom continues to slide into anarchy following the death of Albekizan and the capture of Dragon Forge by human rebels. But a cunning sky-dragon slavecatcher named Vulpine has organized a blockade to break the rebellion, assisted by the brutish earth-dragon war-boss Sawface. Inside the town, tensions rise between the fanatical prophet Ragnar, leader of the rebels, and his uneasy ally Burke the Machinist. Meanwhile, Jandra sets out on a desperate quest to reclaim her lost magic, joining forces once more with legendary dragon-slayer Bant Bitterwood as they hunt for Hex, the sun-dragon who stole her powers. Yet the plans of both dragons and men are about to be upended as a new power rises in the land, a mysterious healer who attracts both men and dragons to the Free City with a message of peace that may conceal more sinister motives. The Bitterwood Trilogy reaches to its climax as former friends face off as enemies to determine the future of mankind and the secret of Atlantis is finally revealed.

#4 – Dawn of Dragons
Dawn of Dragons is a prequel to the Bitterwood Trilogy, but should be read after finishing the trilogy due to numerous spoilers regarding events in the later books.

Set 1000 years before the events of Bitterwood, Dawn of Dragon tells the story of the first dragon, Morningstar, as he escapes from captivity in the final days of the Human Age. It explains the origins of Atlantis, shows the beginnings of Hezekiah as a Bible-thumping, ax-wielding prophet, and explains how Jazz came to learn of Underspace. A must read for any fan of the Bitterwood Trilogy.
