Overview: Clarence William Anderson, born in Wahoo, Nebraska, and known professionally as C.W. Anderson, was an author and illustrator of children’s books. Anderson had an interest in horses and drawing. When he wasn’t out riding horses, he was drawing them, taking great interest in their bone structure and conformation. Anderson started his career by illustrating for other authors, but eventually began developing texts to accompany his realistic and lively black and white drawings. He is best known for his "Billy and Blaze" book series.

7. Blaze and the Indian Cave (1964) – Billy and Blaze head west – but when Blaze is kidnapped, Bill must track down Rattlesnake Joe in order to recover his beloved horse.
8. Blaze and the Lost Quarry (1966) – Billy and Blaze are looking for adventure as they set out to explore the countryside. But when they find an abandoned quarry, they’re in for more than they could have imagined. Not only does Billy perform a brave deed, but he and Blaze make a new friend, too! This could be the greatest adventure ever!
11. Blaze Finds Forgotten Roads (1970) – Billy and his friend Tommy often take long rides through the woods and over the hills on their ponies, Blaze and Dusty. One day they decide to explore some of the country they have never seen. They agree to take every right turn they come to and see what they will find. After a day of discoveries, they are lost – but Blaze knows the way home!
