Overview: Christine Conaway was born in Victoria British Columbia Canada in 1952. She met and married her husband, became a permanent resident of the U.S. and moved aboard a sailboat for the first time ever in 1992. A life-time of outdoor occupations has kept her in touch with the great outdoors. A race horse-trainer/groom, and a driver of semi trucks were her occupations of past. Perilous Journey, her first book was written somewhere between Seattle and Miami from the passenger seat of her husbands semi. A voracious reader at a young age and a mother who only read adult books left her wanting more. She began writing to please herself. The story filled notebooks stacked up and eventually she taught herself to type and transferred some writings to the computer and floppy discs then to keep up with changing times; to CD’s and now memory sticks. She is the proud Mother of three children, two who have made the military their careers and the grandmother to five Grandchildren. Retired and living on a sailboat affords her plenty of time to publish some of her works. Dangerous Shores and The Final Gift are the start of her career as an author.

Desperate Times (Book 2)
Desperation comes in many forms. It begins when the lights go off, the food runs out and humanity is left to fend for themselves. There are winners and there are losers; it depends on which side you are on. They had not thought they lived in the infamous ‘ring of fire’ but geographically it seemed so, with the continuous number of earthquakes that kept their lives on edge. Mountains rose out of nowhere while others disappeared completely, a gentle slope was now a perpendicular wall of dirt and rock. The streams have changed direction, some have sprung from nothing more than a hole in the ground and some have dried up completely. They are all empty of life. They were not preppers, nor survivalists. They are everyday people trying to survive in a world that seems to be falling apart.
Living on the Edge (Book 3)
What more can go wrong? Earthquakes, a volcano rising out of the earth just across the valley, and rumors of the infamous “Ring of Fire” causing disaster and chaos all over the world, the illusion of safety is shattered when the new mountain begins to smoke and rains ash down upon them. Having experienced the phenomenon of Mt. St. Helens, John is ready to pack up and leave. When Mark, their only connection to the outside world via his ham radio shows up, with his loaded wagon, John thinks it’s time to leave. The mountain burps, showering them in ash and noxious fumes and John can’t leave fast enough. Sam and Gina realize there are still things they need and are determined to find them before they go. They can’t be unarmed, while John believes it doesn’t matter. Sam and John push the cattle to a destination not easy to find unless you knew the area and discovered the perfect location for their move. John and Sam separate each with a task in mind. John to set up their new camp and Sam to retrieve what their newest member considers a small arsenal. No one can foresee what lies ahead for either party. With Gina by his side, Sam sets off and discovers too late that John, Mark and the people with them could be in danger from a man who has a personal vendetta against Lucy, Gina, and Sam. Not only does he want retribution for a wrong against his family, but also has the grand idea of ruling the entire countryside from Butte to Spokane. He claims to have an army of ruffians to back him up. Setting a false trail, Sam and Gina head for the ranch, hoping to catch up to John before it’s too late.
Dark Times (Book 4)
Threatened by the smoldering volcano, that continues to spew ash and shake the ground they stand on, forces the Akins family to make some difficult decisions. They’ve decided where to go, but tempers flare when Sam decides they need more supplies if they are going to survive; supplies that Olivia is sure her father has hidden at their farm store in St. Regis. Disgusted that Sam finds the girls story believable, leads his small group away from the ranch, headed for the Saint Joes wilderness area. With one final glance over his shoulder, John wonders if he will ever see his brother or the others again. He hadn’t quite believed how bad it was on the outside of their valley but is about to get a rude awakening when he finds just how hard his short journey is going to become. The only entity crueler than Mother Nature is men who have nothing left to lose and no societal rules to guide them.
Nomads (Book 6)
With a destination in mind, the group began the journey; one foot in front of the other. It was a slow and painful method of travel, but with no other options available they walked. As a group, they had become used to less than the comforts of home, but no food or water was going to make them dead. As the family unification begins to splinter, there are fewer mouths to feed, but fewer resources to feed the ones remaining. The new hardships weigh heavy on the survivors and more than one wonders if the lucky ones aren’t the family and friends who have died. With each tremor, their chances of survival diminish.
