Overview: There is so much talk of “let’s do this or that” and then the events themselves are glossed over. The kids talk about a party, or travel to New York, or get up a show, and then very little is said about it. At the time this book came out, book series for girls were all the go, but there are much better ones than this. There is so little actual description of places they supposedly went to (such as New York City at Christmas) that one wonders where the author kept herself. Much is said of “going to dinner” but you only ever see the kids actually eating ice cream once or twice. I know that kids like to know what people and places look like, where they lived etc. but the houses are described as “their summer home” or whatever—and that’s it.
