Overview: Kate Kingsbury grew up in London, England, and at a very early age began telling stories to her school friends during the London Blitz of WW II while huddling in bomb shelters. Kate moved to the U.S. in the early sixties, and had passed her 50th birthday when she published her first book. Writing as Doreen Roberts, (her real name) she published 26 romance novels for Harlequin/Silhouette. In 1991 her first Pennyfoot Hotel book was published and since then Kate has written 35 mysteries, including the Manor House mysteries, the Bellehaven House mysteries(written as Rebecca Kent) and the Raven’s Nest mysteries, (written as Allison Kingsley.) She has one son, and lives with her husband in the beautiful state of Oregon.

High Marks for Murder (A Bellehaven House Mystery Book 1) – Wacky students, intriguing mystery and a despairing ghost – it’s all in a day’s work at Bellehaven House. It is the height of women’s suffrage in Edwardian England, and Meredith Llewellyn, headmistress of Bellehaven House Finishing School, has her hands full trying to turn rebellious, over-priviliged tomboys into graceful and accomplished young ladies. Her task is decidedly complicated by the ghosts of murdered victims who insist on her helping them bring their killers to justice. Watch the fun as Meredith does her best to keep her ghost-sleuthing a secret from her wayward charges, while trying to convince her fellow teachers that she’s not insane.
Lovers of Agatha Christie’s books will find much to enjoy in this tale of intrigue and laughter in an Edwardian English village, and Emily Brightwell fans will love this book’s offbeat characters and their intriguing adventures at a finishing school for young ladies.

When a teacher is killed by a falling tree branch, the local police constable rules it an accident. Meredith, however, suspects the branch had been sawn off. She’s further convinced when, much to her discomfort, the victim’s ghost confronts her, trying desperately to give her a message. Meredith has to enlist the help of her skeptical fellow teachers in order to unravel the clues and find her friend’s murderer.

Her search leads her to believe the girl’s parents were murdered, and once more she has to persuade her reluctant fellow teachers to help her track down a ruthless killer.
