While the latter carries a secret mission in the province, serving the minister Louvois, the musketeer Maxime trains to take revenge against those who attempted, twice the life of the King. But he knows that the Italian assassin and master track back Mary. Employing the most vile blackmail, spreading fear and death, they will do everything to recruit into their ranks, and to pay those who have failed.

Female musketeer? Of close combat at the time of Louis XIV? Sniffing deja vu commercial, some readers may be put off by these sprains kind of swashbuckling. It is true that the film had already tried to introduce martial arts (The Musketeer Peter Hyams) or a musketeer feminine (La Fille de D’Artagnan by Bertrand Tavernier) in the work of Alexandre Dumas: The mixture was then far from over.

Unlike those films, Belladonna series came to skillfully blend these elements with a modern epic as you can find in the world of swashbuckling love, adventure, betrayal, honor, duels, stampedes are waiting for you and thus give a stamp of authenticity to the story. Strongly focused on the action in the first volume, the series takes the same relief with Maxime, thanks to personal questions heroin. More icing on the cake, the subtle references to the novel by Alexandre Dumas and the piece of Edmond Rostand not escape the fans of the genre. Served by the warm colors of Patrick Christmas, Alary drawing us into the city of Paris under Louis XIV. In the manner of old French films swashbuckling, the environment is warm, nice, friendly but violent. A so miles of cut-throat filthy that was probably the real Paris in the 17th century. As in any work of its kind, we easily forgive a process historically incorrect but that creates the perfect atmosphere for the path that the selected authors.

Ange and Alary offer an adventure of swashbuckling pure juice. It is far from a story worthy adaptation of Richard Lester, but nevertheless, everything is there to please fans of the genre (or nostalgic Jean Marais), with some new bonus that will ensure the originality of the story.
