Requirements: .ePUB Reader, 1.1 MB
Overview: I’m a witch without a coven working for a detective sergeant turned into a dog.

After the coven excommunicates me, I need to find a new job. So when I see a sign asking for an assistant – only witches need apply – I feel my fortunes might be trending up. Sure, there’s a murder to solve, a killer on my tail, and my new boss is a French Bulldog, but at least it’s not working checkout in a supermarket.

Beezley and I soon form a private investigation service to help with the weird and wonderful cases Fernwood Gully has to offer. Join us as we chase leads into danger and back out again, with the help of some black magic and an occasional chewy dog treat. This boxed set contains the first three titles in the series.
Genre: Fiction > Mystery/Thriller

1. Selective Spells
Just because the coven excommunicated me, doesn’t mean I’m a bad witch.

Those ladies should learn to take a joke. In the meantime, though, it’s left me in a bind. I need to get a real job, in a normal human occupation. Yuck.

But when I see a sign at the community centre asking for an assistant—only witches need apply—I feel like my fortunes might be trending up. Sure, there’s a murder to solve, a killer on my tail, and a pittance in my bank account, but at least it’s not working checkout in a supermarket.

And did I mention my new co-worker? Or "boss" as he likes to call it. He’s a detective sergeant with years of specialised training under his belt.

Somewhere along the way he also hacked off some powerful people. At least, I think that’s why they turned him into a dog.
Hm. Maybe the supermarket would be a better bet after all.

2. Vexatious Voodoo
Okay, so it turns out I am a “bad” witch. But I promise to only ever use my black magic powers for good.

It’s a promise that’s soon put to the test when a zombie shambles into the local bank just before closing. I’m not dead-phobic or anything, but trailing cemetery dirt all over the carpet isn’t a great way to make friends.

When Glynda, our fear-inducing fearless coven leader hires me to investigate, I’m over the moon. Add to that, we have a real live blackmail case on our hands, and Beezley and I are close to hitting PI paydirt.

Soon, we’re digging our noses into trouble all over town, and some of it comes back to haunt us. Luckily, I have a new black magic trainer to harness my mad skillz, if I can stop drooling long enough to concentrate.

With voodoo spells popping up all over town, I desperately need something to keep the local witches in check. Beezley might not appreciate his altered form, but I kinda wish I lived a dog’s life right about now.

3. Muddled Mutt
Between a missing mermaid, a dead Santa, and a muddled mutt intent on causing trouble, this is shaping up to be one Christmas I’d like to forget.

When the annual mermaid parade is missing its central figure, Glynda tasks me and Beezley to track the oversized fish and get her back home where she belongs. The job isn’t welcome but the cash is, especially when a confused chihuahua decides to tear up half my wardrobe.

The case soon leads us on a wild fish chase, with a short stop in a pub for much appreciated refreshments. With a few tangled threads to follow, I’m sure we’ll be sorted in time to indulge in the silly season’s activities to our heart’s content.

But a false trail leads us straight into danger. An old foe raises his ugly head and we’re soon in deep, deep trouble. If a muddled mutt can’t save the day, it might be our chestnuts roasting on an open fire.
