Overview: Ben Winston was born in Iowa and grew up in Minnesota on the family dairy farm. Upon reaching adulthood, he joined the United States Army as a communications technician. Before getting out of the military, he decided to go to school for computer electronics.
Shortly after getting out of the military, and after getting a new job with an over-seas company, he was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. A month after beginning the new job, he was laid off due to budget over-runs on the project he was hired for. Upon returning to the United States, he had difficulty maintaining employment because of the chronic illness.
He began writing as a form of stress release, from being home bound and not being able to work, and found he liked writing erotica. Ben wrote a trilogy called the Talosian Chronicles. The first book, Star Dancer, won awards and was nominated for many others by the online communities where it was posted.

1. Twilight Earth: Ben and his family deal with the loss of their father as Earth is attacked from Space. They learn that their father was more involved with making sure the human race survived the attack than they had any idea. What was their father involved in? Why was he spending billions of dollars on a project no one believed would ever be needed?
2. The Long, Dark Night: After waking up from the long sleep, Ben discovers he is now the leader of survivors of Earth. However, the records tell him that some humans managed to escape. What happened to them? What was going on up on the surface of the planet they knew as Earth? How will humanity survive deep underground if the surface is occupied by enemies?
3. Terra Dawning: After rescuing a dying prospector, Ben and his friends learn a few things about the world above. The discovery of an advanced AI built into the local military base also helps the survivors come to terms with the reality of their new world. When the Pirate that had been raiding the surface ask Ben and the Ruling council for assistance, how will they help the desperate pirates and still maintain their security? When Federal Police arrive on the Planet to investigate a massive explosion Ben’s involvement with the Pirates becomes far more dangerous for the Survivors.
4. A New Day: The decision to invite the Federal Police down to the base proves to be good. Ben and the survivors help the Hyclarion Rangers uncover a plot to assassinate the Emperor and overthrow the Empire. When word of the plot reaches Hyclarion, the Emperor himself decides he would like to meet these new humans. After the Emperor arrives and while speaking to Ben, the Lizards declare war on the Empire. With Earth stuck between the two powerful sides in the galactic war, Ben hopes that allying the Terrans with the Emperor will bring a new day to the human race.
5. Homeworld
Agreeing to help defend the Empire had seemed a good deal at the time, but Ben and the rest of the new Terran government quickly realize that their new citizens are very overworked. Ben must deal with the labor issues and new immigrants while trying to keep the Lizards from destroying everything. At least the humans of the Empire now have something worth fighting for; a Homeworld.
