Overview: A newborn is found ashore the Manas Lake in the Himalayas by a tribal chief who had a vision of mother goddess that the newborn is an incarnation of God. The newborn, raised as Cheu, had, in his youth, to flee when implicated in a ‘crime’ of keeping liaison with a convicted woman. Cheu happens to reach Maharshi Ne who takes him to Maharshi Panini’s university for education, as directed by mother goddess in a dream. At the university, Cheu, who is inadvertently named Shiv, excels in education. When he returns to his village, he again encounters troubles and is compelled to flee to the Kailash.
Shiv is declared a Param Purush, the perfect man, when he wins a competition organised by Daksh Prajapati seeking a groom for his daughter Sati. Later, Sati attempts self-immolation at a yajna organised by Daksh. When Shiv’s endeavour to arrange for her treatment fails to save her, he returns to Kailash, and in Samadhi encounters and conquers Death. Parvati, daughter of King Haimvat, aspires to marry Shiv. Her assiduous yearning makes the recluse Shiv agree to marry her. But, Parvati falls sick at Kailash. Her mother insists that the newlywed should live in some city. A search for a city is launched by Shiv’s friends across Aryavart and beyond, and eventually, Vairat is identified as one such city.
Shiv leaves Kailash for Vairat. But, Vairat’s king does not let him live in his city. The inexorable king is killed in an action opened by Shiv’s friends to win him over. Aggrieved, Shiv settles at Kashi, a new city set up in the neighbourhood.
Shiv institutes a university to open doors of education for all and sundry, particularly the subaltern. He initiates revolutionary ways of enlightenment. Kali, a quirky woman from the far-east, approaches Shiv for initiation in Tantra, but leaves in desperation when Shiv diverts her to Bhairav.
Furious Kali opens a rival channel of spiritual elevation by launching an all-women team, but was compelled by circumstances to turn violent against men. To Shiv she is enamoured with love, but revengeful due to rivalry. For those who have submitted to her she is kind as a mother, but for those who challenge her she is fierce as a tigress. From her Seven Sisters abode, she runs a revolutionary movement of liberation.
