2. Prominence: Maxima Lane’s first month and a half at Beaumond Academy was not a smooth ride. Her stepsister bewitched her x-gene and her stepmother almost snuffed the life out of her. Not to mention this weird pull she has to her commanding officer. What is up with that?
Still, the half vampire/half witch has to pull herself together as the next ten months do not look easy either.
With the Run through the Moore in front of them, Max feels that she is ready. If things gets too rough, she can shift into a bird and fly away, but will she be able to leave her friends behind? What she wasn’t prepared for was falling in love with a third year half djinn/half vampire, Ben Vogue. The guy oozes confidence and for some reason only has eyes for Max.
Gabriel has to prepare the first years for the Run. Still, there are a lot of dangers around them. The Shadow is acting up again and more kids go missing. To make matters worse he still has the Ahmdahney, the primal bond, he can’t ignore. When Beaumond gets attacked, crown princes and princesses disappeared into a billow of smoke…..Max included and the only way to find them is if he accepts the primal bond.
3. Preference: In her second year at Beaumond Academy, Max is still struggling to face the fact that her X-Gene has changed and that her boyfriend, Ben Vogue, is truly gone.
She feels like she’s drowning and has trouble connecting with animals. It all changes when her two Commanders try to help her connect, and she comes to know who they both truly are underneath the uniforms.
When a mock-up mission breaks down the magic that her father placed on her as a child, Max is confronted with a lot more than who she is.
Gabriel tries his best to hide the Ahmdahney from everyone close to him, especially Max, but needs to help her as she is drowning in sorrow.
What he didn’t bargain on was the mock-up mission turning into a real one. Almost losing Max makes him realize just how important she is to him. But what if it’s too late?
Will Max find a way to forgive Gabriel and finally give him a chance? And will Gabriel be honest with Max for once about who she truly is to him?
