Overview: Thomas Wilson is captain of the Demon. He wants to improve the conditions in the Rim. First, he must deal with pirates, marauders, dictators, and slavers. Survival is the only law. The Demon is always at battle stations. The Rim Worlds are not allowed to join the Imperium. Thomas provides arms to the Rim since it will be attacked first when the aliens invade. The navy protects the planets of the Imperium, the Rim is expendable. Suzanna, a true spacer from birth, handles the intricacies of interplanetary trade and works hard to protect Thomas from his naivety. Suzanna and Thomas have a passion for each other that continues to grow. Omnia, a sentient AI, protects Thomas but has its own agenda. The navy made a mistake in giving Thomas the old ships at the navy graveyard. Thomas now has his own fleet, but will it be enough? Thomas comes into possession of outlawed technology from an ancient race. The penalty for such possession is death. The Imperium had already decided it must have the technology, and Thomas must die. If the Demon survives the war, they must be prepared to battle their own navy.
