Overview: The Barons of the Cinque Ports Series is one of my favorite series. I loved discovering just what the Barons of the Cinque Ports were, and was shocked to find out that not many people have ever heard of them. There were 5 trade ports in England that consisted of Hythe, Dover, Sandwich, New Romney and Hastings. Fishermen and tradesmen used their boats as part of the king’s army for several weeks of the year, with a baron in charge of the fleet. In return, they were granted boons and favors from the king.
