Too old to remain at the orphanage, Rose Bonklesford takes on a new role as a governess for a family that can’t seem to keep track of their children. The estate itself is a magnet for wayward children, and the number of new people hiding out in the estate keeps growing under Rose’s watch.
With the Christmas season closing in and winter taking hold, Rose finds it impossible to turn children away. After all, they remind her so much of herself.
But her endeavors to rescue foundlings puts a strain on the estate, and bring her to the notice of the head of the household, Robert Chalmers, Baron Gregory.
Of course, Gregory noticed Rose Bonklesford the moment she arrived. He’s soon inventing reasons to visit her and involve her in extra tasks. He’s seen how wonderful she is with the children, including the many by-blows who are the result of his late brother’s lascivious behavior.
However, he cannot keep inventing excuses to see Miss Bonklesford. Alas he also cannot help himself as her kisses unravel his tightly controlled emotions.
