Straczynski’s 5-year story-arc is really one vast novel, and the series was blessed with both superb designs (those unforgettably scary shadow ships!), and actors that helped overcome the budgetry considerations. And Peter Jurasik’s brilliant portrayal of the tragic Londo will be very much in your mind as you read this trilogy. (Great actor? Well, watch him as Sid the Snitch in Hill Street Blues, and you’ll keep saying "That’s Londo?")

Peter David’s Legions of Fire trilogy, from a Straczynski outline, is the story that really should have been filmed, instead of Crusade, or any of the others. This is the story that EVERY Babylon 5 fan should read. All of those tantalising glimpses of the future are bought into focus, and all those questions answered. And Peter David, who introduced us to Londo’s wives in the 2nd series Soul Mates episode, has done a truly wonderful job of tying up all the loose ends.
In the Beginning, David’s novelization of Straczynski’s TV Movie, is a fitting forerunner to this trilogy, as it’s basically the story that Londo relates to Luc and Lyssa near the finale of Out of the Darkness. In effect, David’s novels cover both the beginning and the end of the Babylon 5 saga…
