#01 – Opening Atlantis
The basic premise is that there is another small continent or very large island in the middle of the North Atlantic, with massive natural resources, and which at the time of its’ discovery by European fishermen in the late middle ages (in the 15th century) had no indigenous human population. At some time in the past, the eastern portion of North America split away, and was therefore discovered much earlier, shortly before the War of the Roses. The new land, named Atlantis after the legendary lost continent, is fertile and quickly settled by British settlers, along with French, Spanish and Dutch settlements. The continents which we call North and South America are found a few years later at about the time they were really discovered, and named "Terranova" (e.g. "New Land"). Their history from that point, judging by tangential references in the book, appears to follow roughly the same track as in real history. But the main emphasis is on the story of the first three hundred years of the colonies in Atlantis.
#02 – The United States of Atlantis:
As England tightens its control over the Atlantean colonies, Victor Radcliff and his band of revolutionaries resolve to make the English pay for each and every piece of land they dare to occupy and will stop at nothing to preserve the liberty of their people as a new nation is born?a nation that will change the face of the world?
#03 – Liberating Atlantis
Frederick Radcliff is a descendant of the family that founded Atlantis’s first settlement, and his grandfather Victor led the army against England to win the nation’s independence. But he is also a black slave, unable to prove his lineage, and forced to labor on a cotton plantation in the southern region of the country. Frederick feels the color of his skin shouldn’t keep him from having the same freedoms his ancestors fought and died for. So he becomes the leader of a revolutionary army of slaves determined to free all of his brethren across Atlantis…
#04 – Atlantis and Other Places
The first and last stories are laid in his new creation, the mid-Atlantic subcontinent of Atlantis. In one, John James Audubon sets out to capture on canvas the fast-disappearing birdlife; in the other, an eminent London detective and his doctor partner tackle the mystery of the Scarlet Band.
