In his life as an academic, he is an Associate Professor of English at The Citadel. He specializes in the Middle Ages, but he’s published on a range of subjects from the 1st to the 21st centuries.

In his life as an author, he has published in a variety of genres and venues: from a retelling of Beowulf to a story about quantum physics in the world-renowned journal of science, Nature, to a series of novels, The Shards of Heaven, set during the rise of Augustus Caesar.

Michael grew up across the West, wanting few things more than to write and teach. Today he lives in Charleston, South Carolina.
