1. Louis and the Secrets of the Ring
Louis Crawford has known his whole life that he was not born on Earth. Fifteen years ago, a celestial battle occurred. It was part of an ancient war between the sun and the moon. The sun won that battle, but the war is far from over. The children of the moon were sent to Earth as refugees bidding time until the next generation rises to take their rightful places on the moon, restore their power, and defeat the children of the sun. Louis thought he was the lucky one, the only moon kid whose parents were sent to Earth to watch over the children. Today is his seventeenth birthday and he’s about to discover everything he thought he knew was a lie. But that’s far from the only changes he’s about to face. The moon is rising and with it comes a power Louis has never known and doesn’t understand. Armstrong Academy was built to round up and train the refugees as they come of age during those formulative high school years. It’s a safe haven for them, but the war is still raging on and the enemy is knocking at their door.
2. Octavia and the Tiny Tornadoes
A storm is brewing within her and it’s about to be unleashed. Octavia has always been a loner and a bit temperamental. Running away from every foster home she’s been sent to means she’s spent more time sleeping in the streets than in a real bed. Life’s finally looking up for her when she gets a real family at last, but it’s short lived when freak tornadoes start
plaguing New York City in the middle of winter. You wouldn’t think crazy storms and a runaway foster kid have much in common, but when three teens show up on her doorstep on her seventeenth birthday, she discovers that just maybe she’s more connected with the storms than she thought. Because, the storms are coming from within her. Like a whirlwind, her life is turned upside down when she’s forced to leave the only family she’s ever known to attend Armstrong Academy on a full ride scholarship. The storm moon has risen, and with it comes power Octavia couldn’t fathom and can’t control. Louis, Isla, and Theo, are joined by Isla’s brother Chris on a journey to help her rediscover herself and learn to control her powers. But can they help her before it’s too late? Or will she end up hurting those she cares about?
3. William and the Look Alike
William Chavez has struggled with life at Armstrong Academy since his arrival freshman year. Choosing to keep to himself and not let anyone close to him, William has few friends or attachments. He prefers it that way. So he doesn’t understand why people are suddenly talking to him or why they’re calling him by a childhood nickname he hated. The whole situation was starting to make him feel like he’s living in an alternate universe. With the rising of the worm moon, Louis and Octavia are on the search for the next Chosen and they have their sights set on William simply because he’s been acting strange. They have no idea what they are looking for, because really, what does a worm do? What possible powers could the chosen worm receive? William doesn’t seem very Chosen-like, but his imposter look alike, Willie, is wreaking havoc everywhere. When Willie tells the truth of their origins to the humans in town, they must all come together to clean up his mess or risk exposure. The humans may be easily fooled, but Helios is back in town and watching them closely. One wrong move and the entire school could be jeopardized. But, William has even bigger problems when Willie tells the girl he’s been crushing on since the day he set foot on Armstrong soil, that he’s secretly in love with her.
4. Hannah and the Sea of Tears
Hannah Price is an overachiever who is into everything around Armstrong Academy. Many say she’s flighty, but she’s a lot smarter than she appears. Her parents taught her to stand up for what she believes in and strive to always be the best. Sure, she may get a little too passionate at times, but she’s confident and comfortable with who she is. Hannah is also a natural empath. She’s always felt a strong connection to the people around her and absorbs their emotions as she keeps her own pent up deep inside. What happens when those emotions come boiling out? As Hannah rises into power as the next Chosen, her own emotions are projected onto others sending Armstrong into one giant emotional rollercoaster. That’s not her biggest concern though. She’s being pulled into an elite group and it’s clear the other Chosen and their guardians don’t want her there. She must overcome many hurdles on her own. Her patience and pride will be tested to the max. And when a mysterious stranger sets his sight on her, will the others come to her rescue or leave her out to dry? They’re supposed to be a team, one big happy family, but it’s clear to Hannah she’ll never fit in. A showdown between her and Octavia will either divide the group permanently or bring them closer than ever.
5. Eamon and the Mysteries of Magic
Eamon Roselli is an entertainer at heart, a legacy magician, and all-around lovable guy. He’s made a name for himself around campus in his three years at Armstrong. He likes to think of himself as a lady’s man, though the truth is he’s only wooed them with flowers, music, and magic tricks. When it comes to actually talking to a girl, Eamon comes up empty handed. When he starts pulling out glowing flowers that are clearly not from Earth instead of his usual handmade paper flowers, he can’t chalk it up to his awesome magic skills. As his powers increase, he struggles to control them causing massive destruction around campus, especially anytime he picks up his saxophone and loses himself in the music. With his rising as the new Flower Chosen, Eamon struggles to find himself in this new role. One embarrassing event after another proves he has what it takes to entertain people, only it’s not quite in the way he’d always imagined.
