Overview: A violent and graphic prison novel by Sanford Aday, who would gain notoriety as a publisher of soft-core pornographic books under the Fabian, Vega, and Saber Books imprints. In addition to being a member of the Mattachine Society, an early gay rights group, Aday was among the first to publish early gay and lesbian-themed books. In 1963, Aday and his partner were sentenced to 25 years in prison for the publication and distribution of “obscene” materials; with the case centering on the publication of the notorious pseudonymous 1959 novel Sex Life of a Cop, by “Oscar Peck.” The current work, an early, vanity-published effort, is rare; OCLC notes just three holdings in US institutions, none others in commerce (2013).
