Following three highly successful pantomime performances over the festive season, the East Frickle amateur dramatic society convene to begin rehearsals for their next project. Self styled leader, Gregory Black, has ambitious plans for the troupe and to that end has written a tense mystery which he intends to produce. While the other members of the group are hesitant to try their hand at a new original work, they so desperately want to get a good part that they put their concerns to one side to fulfill their own dreams.
The group are stunned when the body of a local policeman is found in their rehearsal space, and while the majority want to flee or call local law enforcement, Gregory is determined to put his amateur sleuthing skills to the test and solve the murder.
Can he do it before the murdered claims more victims? Will his desire to solve the case lead to the end of the East Frickle amateur dramatic society?
