Overview: Bookplates have a centuries old tradition. If they were initially used to label books, they mutated them more than 100 years ago as a coveted collection object. 52 book registration marks from former Leipzig University students and honorary degrees of various disciplines will be presented. Each picture, mostly reproduced in color, is accompanied by a text which focuses on the university life of the owner in Leipzig and mainly deals with research results from the university archive. The illustrated episodes from the lives of the owners are complex, frequently amusing, often surprising, but also tragic destinies are not concealed.
