New London is a horrible experiment in living, with the inhabitants trapped within the M25 Memorial wall made from the demolished old town. Drones watch over the people fining them for any breaking of the social contract, with inflation running rampant and overdrafts allowed to be colossal. Religion and science are at each other’s throats and everyone’s angry. The designers live within a heavily fortified Inner Wall and rake in the cash from it – the outer zoners are only animals to them after all.
When Avery, an ex-soldier who just works in a shop now, attempts to penetrate the Inner Wall in search of his missing adopted son he risks setting in motion a potentially disastrous train of events. The people outside the Inner Wall aren’t supposed to know they’re treated like rats in a trap. And Avery was a very good killer in his past but the implants in his head to stop Post Traumatic Stress have gone wrong. Will he be able to control himself?
And if the Drones are watching us, who is watching over the Machines of Loving Grace? Something’s coming…
