Overview: Alan Moore: Portrait of an Extraordinary Gentleman is a tribute to comics creator Alan Moore edited by Smoky Man, Gary Spencer Millidge and Omar Martini and published by Abiogenesis Press in May 2003. It was co-published with Black Velvet Editrice of Italy and it contains academic essays, acknowledgments, cartoons, comic strips, illustrations and reminiscences by 145 artists and writers, top American, English and international comics creators paying tribute to Moore, creator of Watchmen and From Hell, as he celebrated his 50th birthday.
Over a hundred contributors participated in the project, including Neil Gaiman, Will Eisner, Bill Sienkiewicz, Dave Gibbons, Denis Kitchen, David Lloyd, Jim Valentino, Sergio Toppi, Bryan Talbot, Steve Parkhouse, Mark Millar, Howard Cruse, James Kochalka, José Villarrubia, Sam Kieth, Dave Sim, Oscar Zárate, Paul Gambaccini, Terry Gilliam and novelist Darren Shan, among others. The book jacket features an Alan Moore photgraph by Piet Corr and other features include interviews, biographies and new and rare photographs.
