It’s no wonder she was the prime suspect, at least in the eyes of Deputy Danworth.
Jeremy Preston wasn’t about to allow his new wife, Kimberly, to be railroaded, although he was upset that Kimberly had pushed Clare into Lake Huron right before Clare’s death, or so Clare said. He hired Agnes Barton, a senior-aged sleuth, from East Tawas, who had a high success rate of crime solving, never expecting that his pregnant wife would begin to traipse around with Agnes and her partner, Eleanor Mason, as they dug into the background of Clare that led all the way to Hollywood.
Agnes and Eleanor were rooming at Mrs. Barry’s house during the case, the same beer-toting senior and mother of Sheriff Clay Barry who not long ago ran for sheriff in East Tawas, much to the chagrin of Agnes and Eleanor. But this time around Mrs. Barry had changed her tune and gave them the use of her car.
2. Pretty, Hip, & Hoodwinked (2016)
After undergoing hip surgery, Mrs. Barry enlists Kimberly Steele’s help, giving Kimberly permission to handle her bank transactions. But when all of Mrs. Barry’s money is withdrawn, all fingers point squarely to Kimberly.
The pregnant Kimberly is now on the hot seat and when an arrest is imminent, Kimberly calls the only women she knows who will be able to help clear her name: Agnes Barton and Eleanor Mason from Tawas.

There’s nothing like going to bingo and scarfing down junk food, unless something dreadful happens, like a woman dying from poisoned lemonade.Agnes Barton arrives late for bingo in Redwater and immediately is in investigative role as she assists Kimberly Steele. The first responders are working on Milly Clark, and all the sleuths can do is look on in horror.
Kimberly and Agnes make an admirable team, and with the arrival of Eleanor Mason, they can’t fail as they search for the source of the deadly lemonade, which leads them to learn that Milly’s gossiping has resulted in misfortune for her neighbors.
When they delve deeply into Milly’s gossip, they can’t help but wonder if her wagging tongue caused her death. But will they be able to solve this case before the next bingo and yet another resident is murdered?
