Overview: Born St.Helens, Lancashire in 1950. Attended Cowley Grammar School. Became an English teacher and taught in the North East of England for 35 years. He co-wrote a number of musicals including Shakespeare The Musical and The Journey (produced at the Millenium Dome in 2000). He enjoys history, visiting castles and reading historical novels. His first nine novels are all set in the 1st century AD in the northern half of England. He has also written a thriller, Carnage at Cannes as well as 9 Sword of Cartimandua novels.

Set in the years before the Battle of Hastings the story follows the trials and tribulations of Aelfraed, a young boy who aspires to be a warrior. Culminating in the battle which finally drove the Normans back to Italy, the historically accurate book paints a picture of the dying world of the Saxon warriors.
